Ad of the Day: OurTime.org Errol Morris asks young people why they plan to vote (or not) on Tuesday

On October 30th, OurTime.org dropped seven-minute advertising video to try to influence young Americans to vote. OurTime.org is a young advocacy group that has partnered up with CHI, Partners in New York, Moxie Pictures, and The New York Times to produce a video that approaches such a grim topic with a potential silver lining approach. Errol Morris, a representative of the OurTime.org, interviewed 50 young people in October to find out why or (why not) they will be voting on Tuesday. Errol Morris told the Boston Globe, “You never know if it will have any effect –how do you know?—but I did it in the hopes that it will.” Errol’s interviews take on a more humorous, lighter approach than most political advertising seen in the media today. Is this effective?

1) Roughly half of young Americans exercise their right to vote. Do you think this type of advertisement would be effective on those that don’t vote? Or are people’s minds already made up?

2) Do you see this type of political advertising interesting compared to others you have seen this political season?

3)Does political advertising really effect peoples choices in voting?
