Lexus has always been into more creative and different type of ads.  With their newest ad, you can place an iPad that has a specific website uploaded behind the magazine page and watch the advertisement come to life. Lexus worked with ad agency Team One to develop this “special technology” that Lexus is calling, “CinePrint.”  The article defines CinePrint as the following, “CinePrint technology flips that on its head, creating a tactile and visceral connection that brings one closer to the printed page with a multi-sensory experience that combines sight, sound and touch."

Discussion:

  • Critics say that it is just a glorified video. Do you agree or disagree?
  • Do you think this type of advertisement is practical? Or do you think people would just brush it aside and not even bother to watch it?
  • What do you think would happen if this type of advertisement becomes more popular in the future? Can you see it becoming a norm for smart phones and not just the iPad?
